Message to Brother: See this show

Devo frontman Mark Mothersbaugh has an art show in LA and it opens November 17th. Scion Space proudly notes that in addition to free valet parking, there will be an open bar. These things, coupled with the fact that I saw a great show of his in Milwaukee two years ago, leaves no reason why my brother (or anyone else in the area) shouldn't go. Hopefully he will post his comments on the show!!

More Kara Walker

From Darkytown Rebellion

The recent show at the Whitney drew its usual overstuffed, overstimulated crowd to its Friday night bash this week. I shuffled through Walker's undiscovered history book, trying to read the silhouettes intimately with a bunch of strangers. Could have done with less graphic sexual content, but I appreciated nonetheless her bold perspective on the relationship between the oppressor and the recipient.

Image Inspiration

Gloria Zein's "Bed for Simon" makes me want to:

1. Go camping to avoid a "contemporary crisis"
2. Turn off my computer
3. Sleep for 5GB worth of time. On the ground.

Pet Post

Foto "exhibit" at the Guggenheim

Today I went to the Guggenheim and it was closed, so I snuck into the basement of the building and perused through the catalog for the new photography exhibit upstairs. The book's content was a surprising treat, filled with early 20th century European photo collages. It made me want to see the show!

Pet Post

Finally, the Captain of all pets: Maggie the Dog. I've posted some pretty important posts in the past, but this one is probably the most compelling. Just look at that face!
