After seeing some pretty amazingly awkward wedding photos (above), I was encouraged by seeing one couple's beautiful engagement shot (below). via AwkwardFamilyPhotos and ACupofJo
I love this collage by Paulina Olowska ("Rock and Rolla," 2006) because it makes me think of boardwalks and showing too much leg... can you believe almost it's the end of August?!
"Study for Antigone," early 1940's, watercolor on paper
The ambiguous forms, blended with the free-flowing medium of watercolor, make me crazy. Also the fact that Rothko made nearly 3,000 works on paper and we hardly ever see them blows my mind. So beautiful.
Come out, New Yorkers, and hear the beautiful music of Mike and Ruthy. Not only will your heart melt with their soothing harmonies, but you can see the fine people that have been working on our Oh Liza Jane debut album! Their magical set should start around 10:30pm at Jalopy in Brooklyn -- don't miss it!!
While quite often I find this photographer's work a tad cluttered and mundane, I am continually drawn to the space the image inhabits and immediately think of things I would do with the surroundings. Or... I just love these yellow walls. But I like how he puts it: "[The image] falls apart before your very eyes." Then the viewer can imagine putting it back together -- making order. Starting fresh.
Hot Buzz here, folks. Get ready for some great grants and raving rants over at the FEAST Picnic this Saturday, July 8th in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Hard working and good looking volunteers made some priceless bags this weekend and you better try and get 'em while they're hot!
We've been trying to teach the cat new and exciting things about rabbits to get her more interested in our new bunny. So far, things are looking good...
