Nathan Sawaya's Lego Sculpture makes me want to:
1. Go diving into a pool of Gold like Mr. Scrooge in Duck Tales.
2. Rip my insides out, only to discover they are in fact, yellow.
3. Get a tan, a hair cut, and a new attitude.

Mark Bradford -- AOD
"Grace & Measure," detail, 2005
Mixed media collage on canvas
"Method Man," 2004, Paper on canvas
The Los Angeles artist speaks about his process:
"My practice is décollage and collage at the same time. Décollage, I take it away; collage, I immediately add it right back. It’s almost like a rhythm. I’m a builder and a demolisher. I put up so I can tear down. I’m a speculator and a developer. In archaeological terms, I excavate and I build at the same time."

Empathy

Waitress
Awakenings
The Lives of Others

Hearth Farm
Here are some summer updates from the good people at Hearth. They're an OLJ fave and we can't wait to be playing at their beautiful farm in August!

Melanie Pullen's "Dorothy," 2003, makes me realize:
1. I should have worn this to work today to send a message out to the staff.
2. Life is always more mysterious when you're wearing red shoes.
3. I need a backyard. Pronto.
